Layouts in July

Hello again and welcome back. This time I would like to share the results of my July monthly layout workshop with you.

The moment I set eyes on Prima's Garden Fable collection I knew I wanted to scrap this photo of our younger daughter using it.

Monthly Layout Sample - July

I used one sheet of the paper as the base (847210) and layered planner pages and tags cut from the other (847227) to add a cluster of layers. I used both the cling and clear stamps from the collection plus a couple of older stamps from Kaisercraft ( the doily embossed in WOW's Bright White ), Inkadinkado ( the quirky 'adorable' ) and a couple of little Teresa Collins word stamps. I used some little scraps of paper to stamp and fussy cut the tiny pink butterflies and had a layout complete with only two sheets of paper and a tiny scrap of lace.

Here are some of the layouts made in the workshop based around the ideas used in my sample...

Apologies to Lucy, Karen and Ellie whose layouts I forgot to photograph, they were fab too with some clever colour combos!

Next month's workshop is a double layout with some background masking and stamping with clever use of quite basic dies to create trims, ric rac and other embellishments. Again I fell in love with these ivory and black papers from Authentique's Everlasting collection. A perfect match for WOW's Vanilla White embossing powder and appropriate for some photos taken of my grandparents and great-grandparents around 1900.

As ever, those attending this workshop will have a free choice of papers to work with the colours and subject of their photos, and it is always interesting to see how different the resulting layouts turn out.

Thank you for popping by, I hope you will join me again very soon.

August Workshops @ Snazzys

Cream & Black Sat 22 August
Lazy days in August with the freedom children on school holidays and some downtime from the pay the bills job brings less clock watching, and hopefully, warm sunny days to relax and spend some quality leisure time doing what you love best. We have a great selection of summer workshops for you, and our Stop By & Stamp sessions will continue over the summer holiday season too, so if you find yourself needing a mid week crafting fix then do just drop by and join us.
Several you have asked why there have been relatively few cardmaking workshops recently and the simple answer is I needed to reduce the overall number of workshops I am committed to running each month and, as demand for cardmaking classes had fallen over the Spring, particularly on Saturday's, I reduced those. I am happy however to increase them again if the demand is there so this month there are three Saturday Cardmaking classes to choose from with a special Summer deal on Saturday 15 July, which offers you the chance to take two workshops and your choice of drop in session, making up to 15 cards, all for just £19 - bargain!

Wednesday 5 August 11am to 3pm and 6pm to 9pm

Stop By and Stamp £5

Whether you are a beginner or an experienced crafter, make cards, scrapbook layouts, art journal pages or create Mixed Media pieces, stamps are a great addition. In these sessions we make all our workshop tools, stamps and consumables available to you so you can have fun experimenting and creating without having to buy all the bits and pieces. Why not drop by, enjoy a cuppa and have a go.

Saturday 8 August 11am to 4pm

Botanicals Summer Journal £30/2SWV

I just love these new papers and stamps from Kaisercraft and as soon as I saw them I knew I needed to make my 2015 Summer journal with them. It's has lovely airy feel with pages to sketch in, write on and add photos and memorabilia too, the perfect summer project. How will you use yours?

Wednesday 12 August 11am to 3pm and 6pm to 9pm

Summer Florals £15/1 SWV *

In this workshop we will be using the fab floral stamps designed this season by Lin Brown for PaperArtsy. They are so very versatile and I will show you how to make five very different cards all from the same stamps. A workshop brimming with colour, ideas and techniques - how will you make yours?

Saturday 15 August 2pm to 5pm

Distressed Florals £15/1 SWV *

When you mention 'distressed' many minds turn to brown, but distressed can be so much more and with all the lovely new shades released in Tim Holtz Distress Inks we will focus on my bright, colourful and crisp version of distressed which is absolutely NOT brown! Join me for a trip through five different techniques with distress inks with not a hint of brown in sight.

*Summer Offer - if you book both these workshops we will give you a free Studio Voucher (worth £5) for any Stop By & Stamp or Art Journal Sunday session in 2015!

Thursday 20 August 10am to 1pm

Monthly Layout Workshop £15/1SWV

It's been a while since we created a double layout so this month we will have two pages designed to face each other in your album. The techniques include using dies to create edges, layers, trims, clips and words with a layered, stamped partial background. My sample is using vintage family photos with Authentique's beautiful Everlasting collection blended with some older 7Gypsies ledger papers which I managed to get hold of. I have used just two photos but you may want to take the opportunity of more space to use more. Similarly you may record places or occasions rather than people and choose different papers offering an individual look. Although we are making a double layout the price of the workshop remains as normal.

Saturday 22 August 10am to 1pm

Focus on Cream & Black £15/1 SWV

If you enjoy making elegant cards this one is for you! Lin Brown stamps again but with a very different look the projects cover paper piecing, embossing, masking, repeat stamping and much more. Great cards for any occasion with their neutral colour scheme and clean finish.

Lovely Layouts

Hello there, I hope our Summer weather is suiting you wherever you are, we have gone from too hot, too, humid and too bright to a thunder storm and too much rain in quick succession so I have some pretty summery layouts for you.

We had a sneaky repeat of our June Layout Workshop today as some of our regular scrappers had missed the original sessions. The technique we were working with was creating a stylised flower from die cut or punched hearts with some simple banners to finish off.

We ended up with lovely, fresh and summery layouts.....

........each with different papers.

This one used a combination of Colour Vibe papers from Simple Stories and a BoBunny paper from their Gift of Love collection. The stamps and Stamp and Cut tabs used here are from Hero Arts.

Again the papers in this layout are from the Colour Vibe collection together with a Prima paper. The stamp and cut set used is the new Planner Clips set by Kelly Purkey for Hero Arts.

Finally, we have a stunning colour combination from Colour Vibe and the brand new Garden Fable collection from Prima. I so love it when so many variations on the original idea develop like this. Brilliant work ladies!

The Garden Fable collection stamps and papers feature on my July Layout sample too, they have such beautiful colours and details.

If you fancy joining me for either of the July sessions on Tues 16/7 10am to 1pm or Thurs 23/7 10.30am to 1.30pm (only one space remaining on this one) you will find full details over at http://sosimplysnazzy.blogspot.co.uk/2015/06/july-workshops-snazzys.html

Thanks for stopping by I will be back soon, I hope you will join me then x
